The primary challenge for the brand was twofold: differentiating itself within a nascent marketplace, and demystifying a traditionally sensitive topic (estate and legacy planning) to appeal to a broad spectrum of users. The subject of mortality and wealth transfer is often avoided due to fear, but Twinku’s core vision is to shift this narrative—making personal financial data insightful, useful, accessible, and inheritable for Africans.

The Strategic Metaphor

The brand’s nomenclature is a deliberate and poetic nod to the nursery rhyme “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”—serving as a metaphor that represents individual financial assets as stars in the night sky. Twinku exists to ensure these “stars” do not burn out or become lost to the financial void.

By framing personal financial data through the lens of illumination and constellation, the identity successfully softens the fear often associated with end-of-life planning. Instead of focusing on loss, the brand focuses on preservation and light, positioning Twinku’s purpose around preventing accounts from vanishing and ensuring they are accessible to the right people at the right time.
